Dee Massay and her sister Ann began training at the age of three in a small home-based studio in Seminole, OK. From those humble beginnings has spawned not just an amazing teacher, but a dance dynasty spanning three generations to Reagan Massay (Rockie’s 8-year-old daughter). Dee trained under Martha Mitchell and Betty Harris. She has been a part of conventions since the very beginnings—Dance Caravan, Dance Olympus, Tremaine, Dance Masters of America, and LA Underground. Her passion for teaching lead her to open more than nine dance studios throughout Oklahoma including the nationally recognized Kim Massay Dance Productions in Edmond, OK, which she co-owned with her daughter Kim. On faculty at East Central University, she taught ballroom, tap, ballet, and jazz classes. Eighteen years ago, she moved from Edmond to Norman opening Massay’s DanceStar Productions with her partner, Rockie Dunn Massay. Many of Dee’s students followed in her footsteps, and have achieved successful careers as dance educators across the nation. Dee, her son Greg, and husband John also own Stage One Productions National Dance Competitions. She currently lives in Grove, OK with her husband, John. Although retired from teaching, Dee still does much “behind-the-scenes” work at the studio, and her influence and legacy continue to thrive through the current faculty.
